Quick answer

Without insurance, manufacturer self-pay prices for FDA-approved weight-loss GLP-1s start at $149 a month (Wegovy pill and Foundayo, lowest strengths) and go up with the dose: most Zepbound strengths are $449 a month with on-time refills ($499 to $699 otherwise). List prices, which are not what most cash buyers pay, run from $499 to $1,349.02 per fill or package.

Compounded GLP-1s

Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved. Compounded semaglutide, tirzepatide and liraglutide are not FDA-approved. The FDA does not review compounded drugs for safety, effectiveness or quality before they are marketed. There is no official price list; prices are set by each telehealth company or pharmacy.

A peer-reviewed study of websites selling compounded GLP-1s (data collected July–September 2024) found these median first-month prices, including discounts.

ProductMedian first-month priceMiddle half of prices
Compounded semaglutide$231$189–$294 (IQR)
Compounded tirzepatide$330$275–$399 (IQR)
Compounded liraglutide$248$223–$274 (IQR)

These are 2024 figures from one study and are shown for context only. They are not current prices and are not updated by our daily check. Sources: JAMA Health Forum (2025): Online Advertising of Compounded GLP-1 Receptor Agonists; FDA: concerns with unapproved GLP-1 drugs used for weight loss.

Medicare GLP-1 Bridge

From July 1, 2026 to December 31, 2027, eligible Medicare Part D enrollees can get Wegovy (injection and tablets), the Zepbound KwikPen and Foundayo for weight management for a $50 monthly copay. Source: CMS.

Methodology

  • Sources. We only use official pages: manufacturer pricing and savings pages (NovoCare, novopricing.com, LillyDirect, pricinginfo.lilly.com and each brand's savings page), manufacturer press releases, and CMS. Each row links the exact pages used.
  • What we record. The manufacturer's self-pay (cash) price for a one-month supply at each strength, and the published list price (wholesale acquisition cost). Retail pharmacy, discount-card and telehealth prices vary and are not tracked.
  • No estimates. If an official price is not published, we say "Not published" rather than estimate one.
  • Daily check. Every source URL is re-checked every 24 hours. When a figure changes, we update the row, its "last verified" date and the changelog.
  • What a month means. Manufacturers define it differently: 28 days for Zepbound, 30 tablets for Wegovy and Ozempic pills, and one box or pen for the injections. Taxes and fees may apply.

Price is only one part of choosing a treatment. Which medicine and dose, if any, is right for you is a decision for you and a licensed clinician.

Changelog

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest FDA-approved GLP-1 for weight loss without insurance?

As of November 3, 2026, the lowest manufacturer self-pay price for a GLP-1 approved for weight management is $149 a month, for the Wegovy pill and the Foundayo at their lowest strengths. Prices rise at higher strengths, so the dose your clinician prescribes decides what you pay. See the dose-by-dose tables above.

Why is the list price so much higher than the self-pay price?

The list price (wholesale acquisition cost) is what the manufacturer charges wholesalers before rebates and discounts. Self-pay prices are separate cash offers sold through the manufacturer's own pharmacy or savings programs. Most people paying cash pay the self-pay price, not the list price.

Are compounded GLP-1s cheaper?

Sometimes, but they are not FDA-approved and there is no official price list. A 2024 study of compounding websites found a median first-month price of $231 for compounded semaglutide and $330 for compounded tirzepatide. Several FDA-approved self-pay prices are now in a similar range. See the compounded section above.

Does Medicare pay for GLP-1s for weight loss?

From July 1, 2026 to December 31, 2027, eligible Medicare Part D enrollees can get Wegovy (injection and tablets), the Zepbound KwikPen and Foundayo for weight management for a $50 monthly copay. Eligibility rules apply.

Why are Ozempic and Mounjaro on the list?

They share active ingredients with Wegovy (semaglutide) and Zepbound (tirzepatide), so people often compare their prices. Ozempic and Mounjaro are FDA-approved for type 2 diabetes, not for weight management.

How often is this page updated?

Every source on this page is re-checked daily against the manufacturer and government pages listed for each medication. When a price changes, we update the table and add an entry to the changelog with the date.
